St. Kitts and Nevis are ushering in a new era of border management with the implementation of a state-of-the-art 4th generation system. This upgrade promises to revolutionize the entry process for travelers, offering enhanced efficiency and security measures.
Integration of Key Systems
The new system seamlessly integrates various components to streamline the entry process. Notably, it incorporates the KNA travel form, facilitates E-Visa processing payment, and introduces the Advanced Passenger Information (API) Dashboard. These integrations aim to provide a more user-friendly and efficient experience for travelers.
Automated Passport Control Kiosks
A significant highlight of the upgrade is the introduction of five automated passport control kiosks. These kiosks are designed to expedite the entry process for eligible passengers, reducing wait times and manual passport checks. Travelers aged 14 and above, holding machine-readable passports from CARICOM member states, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States, can now bypass lengthy queues and undergo streamlined entry procedures at these kiosks.
Enhanced Security Protocols
The automated passport control kiosks are equipped with advanced security features, including built-in cameras and pre-approved checks. These components ensure the integrity of the entry protocols while maintaining a high level of security for the Federation. To complete the process, travelers are required to present a printout of the information confirmation receipt from the kiosk to an immigration officer.
Implementation Timeline
The automated passport control kiosks are set to go live on Monday, March 25, 2024. According to Mr. Jeffers, the inclusion of these kiosks is akin to having five additional immigration officers on duty, further enhancing efficiency at border control. Initially, the system will cater to returning nationals and individuals holding passports from member states of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Passport holders from other qualifying countries will be included by the end of March.
