Arriving at Oualie, Nevis

Getting to Oualie Beach Resort & Oualie Pier, Nevis

Oualie is one of the main gateways to Nevis — and it can mean two things. Oualie Pier is the water-taxi landing point used for many Nevis arrivals. Oualie Beach Resort is the beachfront hotel right beside it. If you are staying at the resort, your transfer ends only steps from reception. If you are heading elsewhere on Nevis, Oualie Pier is often where you first set foot on the island before continuing by road. Either way, Book Nevis coordinates the journey from St. Kitts (SKB) Airport across to Oualie.

At a glance

Your SKB to Oualie transfer at a glance

  • From: St. Kitts (SKB) Airport — Robert L. Bradshaw International.
  • Arrival point: Oualie Pier, on the west coast of Nevis — the standard arrival point for most guests. The Oualie Beach Resort pier is for Oualie Beach Resort guests only.
  • Route: private vehicle to Reggae Beach Pier (around 30 minutes), then private water taxi to Oualie Pier (usually under 10 minutes).
  • Total door-to-pier: roughly 45 minutes, depending on your flight, traffic, pier operations and sea conditions.
  • Meet point: after customs at SKB — look for a Book Nevis sign.
  • Best for: Oualie Beach Resort guests, and pre-arranged pier pickups.

Oualie Pier is the standard Nevis-side arrival point for this transfer. Staying at Oualie Beach Resort? Ask us about arrival at the resort’s own pier — it is for Oualie Beach Resort guests only. If you are staying elsewhere on Nevis, book the transfer for your hotel or villa — or contact Book Nevis if you are unsure.

Pier or resort?

Oualie Pier and Oualie Beach Resort pier — what’s the difference?

Oualie has two nearby landing points, but they are not interchangeable.

Oualie Pier is the standard landing point used for most private water-taxi transfers to this part of Nevis. If you are staying at another hotel, villa, or rental property, or are being collected by someone on Nevis, this is usually the correct landing point.

Oualie Beach Resort pier is for Oualie Beach Resort guests only. We can arrange arrival at the resort pier when you are staying at Oualie Beach Resort and the resort-side access is appropriate for your booking.

If you are not staying at Oualie Beach Resort, book the transfer to Oualie Pier and continue onward from there.

One important exception: not every Nevis arrival uses Oualie. Some routes land elsewhere — guests of Four Seasons Resort Nevis, for example, arrive at the resort’s own private pier, not Oualie. Your booking confirmation always shows the exact pier for your route.

How it works

How your SKB Airport to Oualie transfer works

From landing to the pier, it is one coordinated private journey — there is nothing to arrange leg-by-leg on the day.

  1. Land at SKB. Clear immigration and collect your luggage at St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw (SKB) Airport.
  2. Meet after customs. Walk out after customs and look for a Book Nevis sign — look for the sign rather than a specific driver name. Your driver is expecting you based on your flight details.
  3. Drive to the water taxi. A private vehicle takes you across St. Kitts to Reggae Beach Pier, usually around 30 minutes.
  4. Cross to Oualie by water taxi. A private crossing to Oualie Pier on Nevis, usually under 10 minutes, with your luggage handled for you.
  5. Arrive at Oualie. Step off at Oualie Pier. If you are staying at Oualie Beach Resort, you are essentially there. If you are continuing elsewhere on Nevis, your onward leg picks up from here.

We track your flight, so if it is delayed we adjust the crossing and any onward pickup to match when you actually land. There are no delay fees.

Staying at Oualie

Staying at Oualie Beach Resort?

This is the easiest arrival on the island. The resort sits directly beside Oualie Pier, so your SKB to Oualie Pier transfer ends more or less at your hotel — you step off the water taxi and walk the short distance to reception.

If you are staying at Oualie Beach Resort, ask us about arrival at the resort pier. This pier is for Oualie Beach Resort guests only, so it should not be used for other hotels, villas, or general pickups on Nevis.

Book the SKB Airport to Oualie Pier transfer for arrival, and add the Oualie Pier to SKB Airport return for departure day. Both are private, timed around your flights, and include luggage handling and meet-and-greet after customs.

Booking both legs together saves 10% on the roundtrip.

Continuing elsewhere

Landing at Oualie but staying elsewhere on Nevis?

Oualie Pier is the Nevis-side landing point for stays around Oualie itself, and for journeys already routed through this side of the island. Mount Nevis Hotel — the nearest hotel to Oualie — is less than a 10-minute drive from the pier, and Pinney’s Beach properties such as Hamilton Beach and Paradise Beach are around 15 minutes away by road. Plantation inns such as Montpelier Nevis and Hermitage Nevis can also be reached from here, although by road they are generally quicker to reach from Charlestown than from Oualie — which is why we plan those transfers around the whole journey rather than the nearest pier.

Here is the key thing: if you are staying somewhere other than Oualie Beach Resort, you usually do not book the SKB to Oualie Pier product on its own. Instead, book the transfer for your specific hotel or villa — those routes include the onward Nevis drive from the pier to your door as one coordinated journey. The SKB to Oualie Pier product is for guests whose journey genuinely ends at the pier (Oualie Beach Resort, or a pre-arranged pier pickup).

Departure day

Heading home? Oualie Pier to SKB Airport

For departure day, the journey runs in reverse: a private water taxi from Oualie Pier to Reggae Beach Pier, then a private vehicle to SKB Airport. We calculate your pickup time from your flight departure, with a buffer built in for check-in, so you reach the airport with time to spare.

FAQ

Oualie transfer questions

Is Oualie Pier the same as Oualie Beach Resort?

No. Oualie Pier is a water-taxi landing point on the west coast of Nevis — one of the island’s main arrival points. Oualie Beach Resort is the beachfront hotel right beside it. When a booking says “Oualie,” it may mean the pier (where you land) or the resort (where you stay).

How do I get from SKB Airport to Oualie?

You land at St. Kitts (SKB) Airport, meet your driver after customs, take a private drive across St. Kitts to Reggae Beach Pier (around 30 minutes), then cross to Oualie Pier by private water taxi (usually under 10 minutes). With Book Nevis it is arranged as one coordinated journey.

How long is the water taxi to Oualie?

The crossing to Oualie Pier is usually under 10 minutes, depending on sea conditions and pier operations. It is a private crossing coordinated around your arrival, not a fixed public schedule.

Do you meet us at the airport or at the pier?

At the airport. Once you are through customs at SKB, walk out to arrivals and look for a Book Nevis sign — look for the sign rather than a driver’s name. Your driver stays with you through the drive and the crossing.

What if I am landing at Oualie Pier but staying somewhere else on Nevis?

Then Oualie Pier is likely your Nevis-side landing point, but you should book the transfer for your actual hotel or villa — those routes include the onward drive from the pier to your door. Book the SKB to Oualie Pier product on its own only if your journey genuinely ends at the pier (for example, Oualie Beach Resort). If you are unsure, contact us and we will confirm the right one.

Can I book the return from Oualie Pier to SKB?

Yes. The Oualie Pier to SKB Airport transfer runs the journey in reverse — private water taxi to Reggae Beach, then a private vehicle to the airport — with your pickup timed around your flight departure. Booking both legs together saves 10%.

Can I add child seats, and is my luggage handled?

Yes to both. Child seats are available on request at US$20 per seat for the St. Kitts road leg — add the request when you book. Your luggage is handled through each stage, from the airport, on and off the water taxi, to your drop-off.
