Nevis Peak and the sea on the crossing from St. Kitts to Nevis

Nevis Shortlisted in the 2026 Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards

Nevis has been shortlisted for Most Desirable Island Worldwide in the 2026 Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, according to VON Radio. St Kitts has also been shortlisted in the category.

The nomination gives travellers another reason to look at Nevis when planning a Caribbean holiday. The final award result is still separate from this shortlist announcement.

For someone considering a first visit, the more personal question is what they would like their time on the island to look like. Here are a few ways we suggest approaching a stay.

Make room for the days you want

Start with what matters most to your travelling group. Some people want a beach within easy reach. Others would rather have a comfortable base for exploring, or enough space for the whole family to spend time together.

Use those preferences to choose your accommodation and transport. If you expect to eat out frequently, think about the journey home as well as the restaurant. If you want to spend most days at your accommodation, its setting and facilities will carry more weight.

A little planning helps protect the quiet days too. You can leave an afternoon free without leaving essential travel arrangements undecided.

Choose a few things to do well

For a first visit, we suggest choosing a small number of outings and leaving space between them. A private island tour can be a useful starting point, particularly if you would like an introduction before deciding where to return.

Tell us what interests you when enquiring. That gives us a better starting point for discussing a suitable outing than a request to fit in as much as possible.

Keep some choices flexible. You may find that a place deserves another visit, that the group wants a slower morning, or that you would rather spend longer over lunch than move on to the next stop.

Plan around everyone in the group

A successful holiday does not require everyone to enjoy the same activities. Agree a few shared plans and leave space for different interests.

Families may want to consider how much travelling suits younger children. Couples may prefer fewer fixed appointments. A group sharing a villa may benefit from arranging transport for a particular outing while keeping the rest of the day open.

Our Nevis travel basics are a starting point for getting to know the island and shaping those decisions.

Arrange your arrival before you travel

If your flight arrives at St Kitts Airport, you will need an onward journey to Nevis. Check whether your accommodation is handling any part of that journey and make sure the arrangements join up.

With a Book Nevis private transfer, select the route that matches your destination and provide your flight and accommodation details. For a pier-only booking, organise the onward pickup separately.

The Wanderlust shortlist puts Nevis in front of readers thinking about their next island holiday. If it has prompted you to consider a visit, start with the dates, the right accommodation and a clear arrival plan. The rest of the stay can take shape around what you enjoy.
