St. Kitts and Nevis in Winter: What to Expect in December
December is one of the busiest tourist months on Nevis and St. Kitts. Here is the short version of what to expect, plus a few practical notes for travellers planning a December trip.
December weather

Sugar Mas (St. Kitts Carnival)
Sugar Mas, the St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival, runs from mid-December to early January. For Sugar Mas 55, the main programme runs from 11 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, with J’ouvert on Saturday 26 December, the Grand Parade on New Year’s Day and Last Lap on 2 January. Christmas on the islands
Hotels run Christmas dinners and beachside parties. Most resorts decorate from late November. The Four Seasons puts on a New Year’s Eve fireworks display that draws a crowd to Pinney’s Beach.
Outdoor days
December weather suits the full activity menu: hiking Mount Liamuiga (St. Kitts) and Nevis Peak; snorkelling, fishing, catamaran day-trips; cycling.
Food
Fresh-caught lobster, conch and mahi-mahi. Hotel restaurants set Christmas menus; beach bars stay informal. Pair with a rum punch or fresh coconut water.
